This is my little sandbox on the web. Here you'll find my resumé, some personal pages, rants, and links to sites I visit frequently or think someone else might want to check out. Much of my professional life has been spent in the realm of computers - though prior to my discovering the wonders of the net, I just coasted in my day job in order to finance and facilitate my first love - electronic music. I tried very hard to make my mark in that realm but lacking a feel for the music business and not being very good at marketing myself, much of that time was spent either making music just for my own enjoyment, or getting involved in various projects spearheaded by other people in the hope that something would take off. In the middle of 1993, I took a job as a back-office programmer with Smith Barney that had me commuting four or more hours a day - that alone pretty much killed any idea of doing electronic music (let alone anything else) in my spare time. The last "big" music project in which I was involved at the time was petering out, and died a slow death in 1995. That same year, I got my first internet account and started poking around - it was one of those transformative experiences that affects everything that follows. From that point on, I devoured as much information about the web as I could - in 1996, I managed to slip into the new web development group that was being assembled at Smith Barney, and slowly but surely managed to learn everything I needed to know to design and build web sites. So what you see before you now is the culmination of that process. On the strength of my web work both inside and outside of Smith Barney, I am proud to say I now work for one of the few internet portal companies that is actually turning a profit - and I'm happier in my professional life that I've ever been. Thanks for stopping by my domain - I hope you have as much fun perusing it as I had putting it together. |
