The Firesign Theatre is four (or five) krazy guise who made a name for themselves in the early '70s with some of the most surreal stream-of-comedy albums (remember vinyl?) you are likely to hear. Still as fresh today as they were way back then - "The Future? Heh - the Future ain't here yet man!" This is the official Firesign Theatre site, the culmination of my efforts to help establish a solid web presence for the guys.

The 'pod guys actually were responsible for the very first incarnation of the site (such as it was) back in 1996. It was only a bare handful of spare, cryptic pages that made no direct mention of the group and was essentially an experimental attempt to create a sort of interactive game. The home page declared that it was a work in progress - "Much is to be done, please check back." It remained unchanged on the web until mid-1998, when on the strength of my irReference and Firezine work, I was tapped by the guys to get a site together for them.

At the time, they had just completed their first new album in twenty years, Give Me Immortality Or Give Me Death for Rhino Records. It was a pleasure to help give the album a strong web presence, and to kick off their official reunion as a writing, recording and touring troupe. Like a Phoenix rising from the arid zones of the media prison, the guys are poised to sweep the millennium under the rug.

In late 1999, they released another new album, Boom Dot Bust ... to help with the site updates for this new work, Brian Westley has lent his skills as a Flash and Javascript maven to make some of the coolest rich media content ever associated with the group. He's done and continues to do fabulous work for the site.
